Overview
Today, companies are faced with exponential storage growth, complex network infrastructures and tight budgets.
Guardian Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions allow you to boost network capacity…without adding management complexity.
Despite the low-cost and simplicity as NAS devices, Guardian servers provide enterprise-class performance, reliability and scalability. Featuring cross-platform file
sharing, seamless integration with popular management
tools, extensive backup software support, hardware
redundancy and advanced capabilities such as data
replication and aggregation, Guardian servers satisfy
the needs of the today’s evolving and demanding
enterprise environments.
Benefits
- Simple, seamless integration: simultaneous
support for mixed Windows, UNIX, Linux and
Macintosh environments, as well as HTTP and
FTP support
- High data availability via RAID 5, hot-swappable
disk drives and dual Gigabit Ethernet network
interface with failover capability
- High system availability from redundant,
hot-swappable power supplies and cooling fans
and UPS support
- Easy, flexible management with support for
Microsoft Active Directory Service (ADS), UNIX
Network Information Service (NIS), SNMP, quotas
and environmental monitoring tools

Multiple File System Options |
The Guardian 14000 server can be configured for enhanced performance or maximum file protection. Options include:
- RAID 5 (disk striping with parity): For each array, the size of one disk is reserved for parity checking. An array of 11 disks with a global hot spare yields 1.15TB usable capacity for the Guardian 14000 server.
- RAID 1 (disk mirroring): Second drive duplicates the first drive for maximum data protection (50% usable capacity).
- RAID 0 (disk striping): Large, virtual drive with data striped across all drives of the array. No loss in usable capacity.
- Individual Independent Disks: Twelve separate drives, each seen as a separate volume (JBOD).
