Key Benefits
Server-free Backup
Chaparral offers the optional Extended Copy feature for high-speed serverless backup over Fibre Channel. This advanced management feature works in conjunction with backup software agents to provide serverless backup capabilities. With this added intelligence, Chaparral's router allows users to perform backup operations directly from disk to tape without first copying the data to the host server. Serverless backup not only speeds up the backup operation, but also off-loads the LAN and host computer of storage related data movement, ensuring optimum performance and continuous data access on the network.
Industry Leading Performance
The Chaparral FS1310C router meets the performance, reliability and fault tolerance requirements for enterprise-class storage applications as well as for the emerging SAN environment. With a sustained data transfer rate in excess of 90 MB per second, more than 6,500 I/Os per second (IOPS), a single Fibre Channel port and three independent Ultra 2 SCSI LVD buses, Chaparral's FS1310C offers the best value in its class.
Flexible Configuration-Ultra2 LVD
Chaparral's FS1310C supports Ultra 2 SCSI low voltage differential (LVD) technology offering both high-speed transfer (80 MB/sec) and extended cable lengths (12 meters). The Chaparral FS1310C is compatible with existing single-ended SCSI devices.
SAN-Friendly
The FS1310C is operating system independent and can be used in a variety of environments: attachment of legacy and new SCSI storage devices, enterprise backup and restore applications for SANs, consolidated backup and archiving, serverless backup, and remote disk mirroring for disaster recovery.
SAN-friendly features include a router address (needed for support of server-free backup), persistent reserve-release, extensive automatic device discovery or fixed mapping, and simultaneous target and initiator functions.
Ease of Management
The FS1310C offers several options for easy configuration and management. These include out-of-band management via an RS-232 using multiplexed -user-interface (MUI), over Telnet or through industry standard terminal communications applications. The Chaparral FS1310C can also be managed in-band over Fire Channel using SCSI or other protocols supported by Fibre Channel.
One of the most attractive management features of the FS1310C is Chaparral's embedded Application Programming Interface (API) which provides third party OEMs and integrators with the means needed to develop their own management tools including Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) Utilities. Chaparral's API provides extensive command structure that is intuitive and easy to integrate into third party management tools or applications.
