HiCommand™ is an open storage management framework, which helps simplify and reduce the cost of managing your complex storage environments. HiCommand will provide a number of services, including policy- based automation which applies business rules to storage systems operations.

HiCommand Device Manager, the first offering under the framework umbrella, provides a single platform for centrally managing the Hitachi Freedom Storage systems and Sun StorEdge™ 9900 Series and T3 storage systems. To optimize storage utilization, Hitachi Data Systems provides "link and launch" capabilities for quick and easy access between the Sun StorEdge Resource Management Suite and HiCommand software.

HiCommand Tuning Manager is a software tool that maps, monitors, analyzes and reviews your entire network's resources, from the application to the device, using a consolidated single screen. Intuitive and Web-based, Tuning Manager software enables you to review capacity and performance metrics, generate reports for usage analysis, optimize storage volumes and simplify storage management. Fully integrated with the HiCommand Management Framework and Device Manager and compliant with industry standards, the Tuning Manager module can be used with Hitachi Freedom Storage Lightning 9900™ V Series, Lightning 9900 Series and Thunder 9200™ storage systems.

Sun™ StorEdge™ Resource Management Suite Software is a web-based application that provides central management, reporting and analysis of enterprise-wide storage resources. This flexible and intuitive software helps increase operational efficiencies, optimize storage capacity and maximize your network investments. Sun StorEdge Resource Management Suite Software supports Hitachi Freedom Storage systems, as well as Sun StorEdge T3 and 9900 Series platforms. When used in conjunction with HiCommand, customers achieve unbeatable network provisioning and management benefits.

• Hitachi Graph-Track™ offers an efficient, reliable and centralized way to manage performance. This unique tool monitors hardware performance and supplies complete system storage information through a graphical interface.
• Hitachi FlashAccess™ allows users to "lock" and "unlock" data into cache in real time. You can add, delete or change data at any time quickly and easily. This solution delivers data at memory, not disk access, speeds.
• Hitachi VLVI Manager optimizes storage system capacity utilization by allowing users to create custom sized logical volumes of information. Hitachi VLVI Manager improves performance by reducing logical device contention and operating system queuing. It also boosts remote copy performance by eliminating the need to copy large volumes of information that are only partially used.
• Hitachi LUN Manager streamlines configuration management processes by enabling you to define, configure, add, delete, revise and reassign LUNs to specific paths non-disruptively, and without having to re-boot your system. Because LUN Manager can assign multiple paths to a single LUN, you gain the necessary infrastructure to support alternative path failover, path load balancing and clustered systems.
• Hitachi SANtinel™ helps ensure security in storage area networking environments through restricted server access. With SANtinel you can deny access to unauthorized users and safeguard your mission-critical information.

Hitachi Command Control Interface (CCI) allows open systems users to manage Hitachi TrueCopy™ and Hitachi ShadowImage™ from programs running on their host.
