Unylogix UNA-260 Drive Specifications
(Based on the Sony AIT-3 drive)
Model Overview
AIT-3 drive, available as internal or external with Wide Ultra SCSI SE / LVD
Interface
Model Highlights
260
GB capacity and 12.0 MB/s sustained data
transfer rate (with 2.6:1 compression)
Backward compatibility with AIT-1 and
AIT-2 data cartridges
Fast media loading (Less than 10 s) and
file access (27 s to 37 s)
High reliability with MTBF of 300,000 POH
(100% duty cycle), head life of 50,000 hours,
and media uses of 30,000 end-to-end passes
Efficient data management with Memory In
Cassette (MIC)
Compact 3.5-inch form factor for easy
integration into existing systems
Active Head Cleaner mechanism and AME
media reduce the need for periodic cleaning
Features:
High
capacity, high performance Sony AIT-3 tape drives deliver up to 260 GB capacity (with 2.6:1 compression) in a compact, 8mm
data cartridge. Helical scan technology increases
data recording density, while offering fast data
transfer rates of up to 28.0 MB/s (2.6:1
compression)
Fast access to data with MIC The unique
Memory-In-Cassette feature of Sony AIT drives, with
64 kB of built-in programmable memory, speeds access
to data, providing fast loading (less than 10
seconds) and quick file access (27 to 37
seconds).
High reliability Sony AIT tape drives incorporate
a redesigned head geometry, reducing head/tape
pressure and delivering up to 50,000 hours of head
life. The built-in Active Head Cleaner mechanism
results in an industry leading MTBF rating of
300,000 POH (100% duty cycle).
Backward Compatibility Sony AIT-3 tape drives are fully read and write
backward compatible with both AIT-2 media, 36 GB and
50 GB data cartridges, and AIT-1 media, 25 GB and 35
GB data cartridges. Backward compatibility helps
protect your investment in the valuable data you
already have stored on AIT-2 and AIT-1 data
cartridges, while delivering the increased capacity
and performance of AIT-3 technology.
Reduced periodic maintenance Sony AIT drives
incorporate an Active Head Cleaner mechanism
activated automatically by the drive mechanism when
tape errors approach a certain threshold.
