S-AIT is based on advanced helical-scan recording technology, which is known for its high data density, outstanding data transfer performance, as well as reliability and durability advantages. S-AIT's use of helical-scan technology results in much higher areal recording densities than what is possible through existing linear recording products. And by utilizing the media length and cartridge size of linear products, S-AIT is able to store up to five times the capacity in the same space.
