NetStorNAS is available in many configurations. The 2U rackmount header powers the NAS operating system, while dedicated RAID controllers power the I/O and RAID calculations. NetStorNAS can be configured with up-to (6) Ultra160 SCSI hard disk drives within the 2U rackmount NAS header, or for more powerful RAID options and scalability, most configurations feature external dedicated RAID hardware that attaches directly to the 2U rackmount NAS header via SCSI. By utilizing the more powerful external dedicated RAID options, you can scale NetStorNAS from 120 GB up-to 64 TB of storage, and any increment in-between.

NetStorNAS features 5 available expansion slots for high-performance options such as additional Gigabit Copper/Fiber Optic Ethernet or additional SCSI bus channels for higher I/O throughput or locally attached Tape Backup (single or multi-drive/multi-slot) devices. When configuring NetStorNAS with internal SCSI hard disk drives (as opposed to external RAID), one of the expansion slots will be occupied by a high-performance RAID card.

The standard hardware configuration for the 2U rackmount NAS Header features a single Intel Pentium 4 Xeon 2.4 GHz CPU (with Hyper-Threading enabled), 1 GB of DDR PC2100 ECC memory, and 400W hot-swap redundant power.
