TM-L Series configurations - Mirroring Tape Libraries & Autoloaders

Solutions include: real time tape mirroring, real time data replication, tape mirrroring for UNIX, Windows, Linux, Netware, Mac; Formats include: LTO mirroring, DLT mirroring, SDLT mirroring, AIT mirroring... Multiple Tape Autoloader mirroring, Single Tape library mirroring, Multiple Tape library mirroring.

Unylogix's virtual tape library storage backup solutions complement existing tape technologies, tape autoloaders, and tape libraries. These tape library mirroring solutions are plug and play compatible and provide 100% transparent operation with all platforms, OS and backup management software.

Unylogix's virtual tape library storage solutions are based on fourth generation Tape RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Drives) ASIC technology, also known as RAIT (Redundant Array of Independent Tapes), to provide the highest tape performance, backup/restore automation, and fault tolerant data protection.

These series can be configured with one (TM-L models) or more (TM-LM models) tape libraries or autoloaders, to provide up to 4 times the performance of a single drive with unlimited flexibility; these models are specifically designed to address today’s backup concerns and increase data reliability and productivity with seamless scalability.
Please see the sections below for more details.

Single Tape Library Mirroring

The single tape library mirroring system transparently automate mirrored tape sets within a single tape library. Backup and restore operations perform up to 4 times the speed of a single tape drive providing reliable tape library operation.

Multiple Tape Library/Autoloader Mirroring

The multiple tape library or autoloader mirroring system transparently automate mirrored tape sets across multiple tape libraries, thus providing data mirroring across 2, 3, 4 or 5 tape libraries or autoloaders with seamless scalability.

Benefits

      Transparently Automate Mirrored Tape Sets

100% Transparent Operation with all backup management software

Performs up to five copies of the same backup in the time of a single backup

Provides Fault Tolerant Tape Operation by Simultaneously Creating a Parity Tape

Each Mirrored Tape Drive Set Connects to the Host via a TM-L Series Controller

Mirroring Solutions Provide Unlimited Flexibility and Scalability

Specifications

Supported RAIT Levels

Level 0    Striping two drives (2+0) or four drives (4 + 0)
Level 3    Striping two drives or four drives plus a parity drive (2+1 or 4 +1)
Level 1    Mirroring two, three, four, or five drives

Host and Array Interface

The host interface provides connection between the array controller and SCSI host system.
The array interface provides connection between the array controller and SCSI tape drives.

    Model:   TM-L2
Host Interface:  High Voltage Differential or Single-ended, Wide provides 20 MB/sec burst data transfer rate.

Array Interface:  5 Array SCSI Channel Interfaces; Single-ended Narrow SCSI channels provide 10 MB/sec burst data transfer rate for each array channel, yielding a 50 MB/sec total transfer rate.

    Model:   TM-L3
Full 40 MB/sec sustained data throughput

Host Interface:  High Voltage Differential (HVD) Fast & Wide synchronous transfer provides 20 MB/sec sustained data transfer rate.

Array Interface:   Five independent parallel SE Wide SCSI channels provide 20 MB/sec sustained data transfer rate for each array channel.

    Model:  TLM3HVD
Full 40 MB/sec sustained data throughput

Host Interface:  ULTRA Wide synchronous transfer provides 40 MB/sec sustained data transfer rate. High Voltage Differential (HVD) SCSI interface.

Array Interface:   Five independent parallel High Voltage Differential (HVD) Wide SCSI channels provide 40 MB/sec sustained data transfer rate for each array channel.

    Model:  TLM3LVD
Ultra 2 LVD 80MB/Sec SCSI Interface

Host Interface:  ULTRA2 LVD Wide synchronous transfer provides 80 MB/sec burst data transfer rate.

Array Interface:   Five independent parallel ULTRA LVD/SE Wide SCSI channels provide 40 MB/sec burst data transfer rate for each array channel.

    Model:  TLM4
     260 GB/Hour sustained backup SPEED!

Host Interface:   ULTRA2 LVD Wide synchronous transfer provides 80 MB/sec sustained data transfer rate.

Array Interface:  Five independent parallel ULTRA LVD/SE Wide SCSI channels provide 40 MB/sec sustained data transfer rate for each array channel.

All models are compatible with all SCSI tape drives including DDS, 8mm, AIT, DLT, SDLT, LTO and IBM 3480/3490/3590.
