DLTtape 8000 Drive

Robust, Reliable, Proven DLTtape Backup

The Industry Standard:
The Quantum DLT 8000 tape drive system advances the standard in tape backup with improvements to capacity, performance, and cost of ownership while maintaining compatibility with a worldwide installed base of more than one million DLTtape™ drives. The Quantum DLT 8000 tape drive will decrease your data backup time, give you the flexibility to scale to a wide range of backup applications, and protect your investment in previous generations of DLTtape technology.

Through a number of design and technological innovations, the Quantum DLT 8000 tape drive delivers higher performance, greater capacity, increased reliability, and more functionality at a better price. For example, the Quantum DLT 8000 provides a native storage capacity of 40 gigabytes (GB) and a native transfer rate of 6 megabytes per second (MB/sec). This represents a 15 percent higher capacity and 20 percent faster throughput than the Quantum DLT 7000 tape drive.

To ensure superior accuracy, the Quantum DLT 8000 recording head boasts an average life of 50,000 hours. In fact, the Quantum DLT 8000 tape drive is rated at 250,000 hours MTBF at 100 percent duty cycle, which is 25 percent greater than previous DLTtape products. The Quantum DLTtape system is also economical and incredibly reliable, with a shelf life of 30 years and a working life of one million passes.

By offering a high level of performance at an exceptional price, the Quantum DLT 8000 makes tape backup practical and affordable for a wide range of applications, including mid-range computers, network servers, high end workstations, and mainframe environments running UNIX, NetWare, Microsoft Windows NT, LINUX, or proprietary operating systems.
